Halderman fares well in Kentucky

Northfield Track Athlete Jenna Halderman competed in the Eastern Relays Distance 3200 on Friday Night in Louisville Kentucky. 

Halderman ran the 3200 race in 10:57 to earn a spot on the medal stand.  This is a top 10 time in the state.

Manchester softball team splits doubleheader

The Manchester softball team traveled to Fremont Saturday to take on the Eagles in a doubleheader, falling in game one 5-4 before coming back to take game two 5-3.
 
In game one Fremont built a 4-0 after the second inning before the Squires made some noise.
 
Weimann would lead off with a walk and was moved to second on a Sorg walk. A passed ball put runners on second and third before Brooklyn Howard reached on a one error to score Weimann and make it 4-1. Cierra Carter then grounded out to score Sorg right before sister Celina singled home Howard to make it 4-3.

Norse girls break record

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Northfield Girls 4×800 Relay Team competed in the Distance Showcase Meet in Indianapolis on Friday Night.   
 
The team broke the school record and ran 10 minutes 5 seconds. 
 
Members included Brittany Sloan, Karla Singer, Arie Kennedy, and Jenna Halderman.  The fifth place finish put the girls on the medal stand. The girls were the smallest team in the field.
 
Jenna Halderman also competed in the Miracle Mile Race.  
 
After running the anchor leg of the 4×800, she ran the 1600 race in 5:18.

7th inning rally gives Apaches win over Marion

The Wabash baseball team entered the bottom of the 7th Friday trailing Marion 4-2 before collecting two hits, taking advantage of a Marion error and being intentionally walked twice before a fly ball scored the winning run in a 5-4 thriller.
 
The two defenses dominated early in the game with the game scoreless after three innings before Marion broke the ice in the fourth, scoring two runs in the top of the inning. The Apaches would get half the deficit back in the bottom of the 4th when Austin Hostetler hit a one out triple and scored on a Braydon Ogan grounder.

Lady Knights get first win of softball season

The Southwood Lady Knight softball team picked up its first win of the season Thursday, defeating Southern Wells 10-1.
 
The Knights got on the board right away when Brooke Elliott led off with a single and was moved to third on an Abby Grossnickle single. Meranda Friend would then ground out, scoring Elliott for a 1-0 lead. Bailey Lundmark followed with a single, scoring Grossnickle to lead 2-0.

Knights get big win at Peru

Just one day after a not so good game at Mississinewa the Southwood baseball team visited 3A top 20 Peru Saturday. Knight ace Robbie Cole was back on the mound after recovering from an injury and threw a gem, limiting the Tigers to just five hits in a 2-1 win.
 
Peru would draw first blood in the second when Kreighton Ray doubled and scored on a Sean Smith double for a 1-0 lead before Cole struck out the next two batters.

Lady Norse take twin bill

The Northfield softball team got back in the win column Saturday taking a double header from Winamac. The Lady Norse won game one 11-7, then came back to take game two 8-7.
 
In game one the Norse took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Kianna Kendall led off with a double and was followed by a Paige Holley single to put runners on the corners. With two outs Kendall would steal home for the lead.

Norse baseball team splits doubleheader

The Northfield baseball team split a pair of games with Marion Saturday, falling 3-2 in game one for their first loss of the season before coming back to take game two 12-3.
 
The Norse collected just two hits in game one, but scored the first run of the game in the fourth. Adam Roser would start off the inning by reaching on a Giant error. Dylan Brown then reached on a fielders choice with Roser advancing to third to put runners on the corners with no outs. With one out Shane Vigar hit a grounder that scored Roser to make it 1-0. Marion would double up on the Norse in the bottom of the inning, scoring twice to take a 2-1 lead.
