Lady Norse win Westville Invitational

WESTVILE --  The Northfield varsity volleyball team traveled to Westville Saturday for the Blackhawk tournament, going 3-0 on the day to capture the tournament.
 
The first match of the day for the Lady Norse was East Chicago and the Lady Norse won 25-4 and 25-8.  Their next match was against Oregon-Davis, winning 25-9 and 25-18.  In the Championship match the Lady Norse faced the host school Westville Blackhawks.  This match went three games as theBlackhawks won game one 16-25, but the Lady Norse came back to with the next two games 25-12 and 15-6.

Southwood tops Norse in volleyball play

The Southwood volleyball team flexed their muscle at Northfield on Tuesday, picking up its fourth conference win in a 25-16, 25-13, 25-11 victory over the Norse.
 
The Lady Norse got the good start, leading 4-1 after a Kiana Kendall kill, but the Knights would quickly respond with an 8-0 run. With Bailey Lundmark serving, setter Bailey Hobbs would find Emilie Harnish who had four kills as the Knights raced to a 9-4 lead. Paige Holley would stop the run with a kill, but the Knights would score 8 of the next 12 points to increase their lead to 17-8. Southwood would go to Lundmark and MaKayla Proffitt as the Knights maintained their lead with Lundmark ending game one with a block, 25-16.

Squire volleyball falls to Maconaquah

NORTH MANCHESTER -- The Manchester volleyball team fell in three to a very good Maconaquah team 23-25, 17-25 and 19-25 on Thursday.
 
In varsity action, aces were led by duo Emma West and Ali Casper with two apiece followed by both Cierra Carter and Karly Eichenauer with one. Digs were led Carter with 10 followed by both West and Casper with eight.

Squires tennis team still rolling

NORTH MANCHESTER -- The Squire tennis stretched its win streak to 6 matches with a 4-1 win over visiting Tippecanoe Valley on Thursday.
 
Top singles player, Max Karg, dominated against his Viking opponent dropping just one game. 
 
“Max was all business out there today, and he continues to encourage and mentor his younger teammates,” Squires coach Joel Eichenauer said.

Valley posts come-from-behind win over Manchester

MENTONE - The Manchester football team built an early 14-2 lead, only to have Tippecanoe Valley come back and defeat the Squires 36-27.
 
After suffering a safety to trail 2-0 the Squires would grab the lead with 1:22 left in the first quarter when Bailey Ness found Keelan Norwood on a 69 yard scoring strike to lead 7-2.

Friday night lights on Wabash WebTV

Week No.7 of high school football is set up for Friday night. This week’s games include Manchester (0-6), looking for its first win when it  travels to Whitko (2-4), Northfield, still undefeated at 6-0, will be at Maconaquah (5-1) and Wabash (4-2) hosts North Miami (1-5). Wabash WebTV will be at Tiger Stadium at Peru High School on Friday night for the game between Southwood (3-3) and the Peru Tigers (4-2).

Lady Knights win golf sectional; MHS advances to regional

HUNTINGTON -- Behind medalist Dayna Dale’s 79 the Southwood girls golf team won the Huntington sectional Saturday with a team score of 369. 
 
The Manchester Lady Squires finished third with a score of 415. Both teams advance to the regional at Noble Hawk next week. Huntington was second with 374.
 
Northfield finished seventh, while Wabash had an incomplete team.
