The Southwood Knights took off early against the Manchester Squires Friday night, Sept. 23, scoring 20 points in the first quarter, held off the pesky Squires for the next two quarters, and cruised to a 55-22 Three Rivers Conference win.

In a strong field of 15 teams, the Wabash girls golf team placed 13th and Northfield finished 15th at the East Noble Regional Friday morning, Sept. 23.

The Wabash girls soccer team went 3-0 last week and Manchester posted two shutout wins last week.

Wabash finished the Three Rivers Conference with a 5-1 record while Manchester stands at 4-0 with games remaining against Peru and Tippecanoe Valley.

Friday, Aug. 26 was not kind to Wabash County football teams. All four teams suffered double-digit losses.

Oak Hill 58, Southwood 7

Oak Hill’s Kyle Turnachick ran for 211 yards and scored five touchdowns while Southwood found the end zone once.

Southwood’s lone score came on a Morgan Lloyd six-yard run in the second quarter.

The Wabash boys tennis team defeated Manchester in a conference battle Thursday, Aug. 25 by a 4-1 score.

Wabash took a 1-0 lead after Eli Mattern battled back from a 4-1 deficit to beat Connor Trump 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.

The Wabash volleyball team traveled to Oak Hill and defeated the Lady Eagles 25-22, 25-15, 25-15 Tuesday, Aug. 23.

Ashlynn Cruz led the way with 13 points and 14 digs, followed by Faryn Morris with nine kills and six digs, Bryleigh Boggs with eight points and five digs, Jankia Stumbo with eight points and two digs, Jade Stumbo and Kierra Wilson each with four kills, Jillian Sailors with three points, and Elli Hall with one point.

Wabash scored the first goal of the game with under two minutes left in the half when Kolton Wilson found the net.

Manchester responded quickly when Michael Ortiz tied the match right before halftime to tie it up at 1-1.

Both Manchester and Wabash girls soccer teams went 2-1 last week as they prepare for their head-to-head Three Rivers Conference contest next week.
