Girls soccer team falls at sectional

The Squire girls soccer team had no trouble in its opening sectional contest with a 4-0 win over Blackford Tuesday, Oct. 8 at the Eastbrook High School.

Emma Garriott led the Squires with three goals, giving her 18 on the season to set the program's single-season scoring record.

Garriott scored her first two goals in the first half, the first on an assist from Haylie Miller.

Garriott made it 3-0 on another pass from miller, followed by a goal from Gabbie Brewer on an 18-yard shot.

Kindra Stetzel had five saves to shut out Blackford.

Colts’ odds to win Super Bowl adjusted after huge win in Kansas City

By Marcus DiNitto and Joe Rodgers

With their 19-13 win at Kansas City on Sunday night, Indianapolis made a move up the Super Bowl 54 futures board, its odds to lift the Lombardi Trophy next February in Miami adjusted from 100/1 to 60/1 in Las Vegas. The Colts were assigned those triple-digit odds after a flat performance in a home loss to the Raiders in Week 4, but then they beat the Chiefs as 10.5-point underdogs in the biggest upset so far of the NFL season.

Heading into the Colts’ bye week, not much separates them from the Texans in odds to finish atop the competitive AFC South. While Indianapolis and Houston both sit with 3-2 records through five weeks of action, the latter remains the favorite to win the division, at +145 odds (bet $100 to win $145), a tick above of the Colts (+175) on the betting board.

But now it’s the Texans’ turn to visit Arrowhead Stadium. In Week 6, Houston is a 5-point underdog to the Chiefs, who figure to come out with plenty of motivation as they look to avoid a second straight loss.

Looking ahead to Week 7, the Colts will be rested when they welcome the Texans for a key divisional showdown, but health remains a concern for Indy.  The latest piece of tough injury news: Second-year defensive end Kemoko Turay is out for the season with a broken ankle suffered in Kansas City.

Early point spread for Colts-Chiefs primetime clash suggests overreaction to loss to Raiders

By Joe Rodgers and Marcus DiNitto, BetIndiana News

The banged-up Colts came out flat in Week 4 against the Raiders, but based on early point spreads for Sunday night’s game in Kansas City, the betting market may have overreacted to the home loss.

In advanced betting lines posted a week ago in Las Vegas, oddsmakers listed the Colts as 8.5-point underdogs at Arrowhead Stadium. But as Sunday’s Week 4 action was wrapping up, Kansas City -10 was posted on betting boards, and the number had been bet up to -11 by Monday.

It’s not like the Chiefs were overly impressive in a comeback non-cover win over the Lions, so if the Colts get back a combination of WR T.Y. Hilton, LB Darius Leonard and DL Tyquan Lewis, you can bet professional bettors will be looking to take the points with the road underdogs.
