Squires take two from LaVille

The Manchester baseball team got on the winning path by taking a double header from LaVille Saturday. The Squires won game one 7-5 in eight innings, then bounced back to take game two 8-5 in eight innings.

In game one, the Squires picked up two runs in the third. Jurgin Cripe singled and was followed by a Thad Miller walk. Cody Harlan walked to load the bases when Evan Olinger walked to bring home a run. Branden Scott then drove home the second run.

In the fourth, Jake Semler singled, followed by a Cripe walk. Harlan singled to load the bases for a second time with Olinger and Scott driving home runs.

In the sixth, Thad Miller reached on an error, Olinger singling and Scott walking to load the bases. Jim Sainsbury walked to force the fifth Squire run home.

In the eighth, Miller singled and was brought home on an Evan Olinger double. Sainsbury double home Olinger as the Squires held on to win game one 7-5.

Evan Olinger got the win on the mound in relief.

Apaches win Wabash Invite

The Wabash Apache golf team won the Wabash Invite at Honeywell Golf Course Saturday. Wabash fired a season low 326 on the backs of medalist Jordan Blair (73) and Jack Leland (79) to top Warsaw, which had 334.  Northfield finished fourth with 337, while Manchester was sixth with 383.

Apaches Win Jacket Invite

The Wabash baseball team traveled south to Morristown Saturday to play in the Jacket Invite. The Apaches went 3-0 on the day to take home the title.

In game one, Wabash ended Oldenburg's seven game winning streak with a 12-1 six inning win. Grant Sailors went the distance on the mound.

Emmanuel Christian School holds athletic awards ceremony

The Emmanuel Christian School athletic awards ceremony was held on April 12. The following awards were presented to students:

Volleyball certificates and volleyball patches were awarded to Ellie Daniel, Jocelynn Samuel, Emily Daniel, Bethaney Porter, Kayla Osborn, Kourtney Trusty and Koren Marsh. Receiving the Junior Varsity Most Valuable Player award was Bethaney Porter. Receiving the Junior Varsity Most Improved Player award was Jocelynn Samuel and receiving the Junior Varsity Christian Character award was Ellie Daniel.

Nick Driskill signs free agent contract with the Colts

Four former Mount Union football players, Jasper Collins with the Miami Dolphins, Chris Denton with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Charles Dieuseul with the New York Giants and Nick Driskill with the Indianapolis Colts, agreed to NFL free agent deals.

Baker Wins Again

Ball State’s baseball team tallied a 5-4 win over Mid-American Conference opponent Ohio Friday afternoon to improve to 7-9 in league play and 18-19 overall.

Wabash splits at Apache Classic

The Wabash varsity baseball team hosted the Apache Classic Saturday, going 1-1 on the day to finish runner up in the tourney. In game one Wabash fell behind early, but rallied back to defeat Hebron 9-6.

Keaffaber tosses second no hitter-Ross one hits Argos

The one two punch of Ryan Keaffaber and Joseph Ross were dominate on the mound for Northfield Saturday, taking a double header from Argos with Keaffaber pitching his second consecutive no hitter in a five inning 10-0 win in game one. Joseph Ross followed Keaffaber's performance by taking a no hitter in to the seventh before giving up a lead off double in a 5-0, one hit shut out win in game two.

Andy Roser, Collin Dawes, Ryan Keaffaber, Joseph Ross and Dallas Hovey each had two hits in game one. Hovey had the lone extra base hit with a double. Adam Roser and Drake Richter each had a hit.
