A day of softball at Field of Dreams

The NSA held a 31-team tourney with three different age groups at the Field of Dreams Saturday and Sunday. We captured several Wabash County players in the tourneys as the Shock from Manchester had teams in the 12 and under and 14 and under divisions. Also in the 12 and under was Allie Keaffaber from Northfield, her sister Abby in the 14 and under and Montana Castro played in the 16 and under.

New school records set at the county, TRC and RRC track meets

At this year’s Wabash county track meet, the TRC & RRC meet there were several school or meet records broke by Wabash county runners.

At Northfield, new school records were set by Jenna Halderman in the 1600 M Run (5:26) and 3200 M Run (11:37.56) and the 3200 M Relay Team of Paige Cole, Jenna Halderman, Karla Singer and Brittany Sloan (10:08.70).

Norse win fourth straight sectional titles

After getting off to a slow start and trailing in the third inning, the Northfield baseball team rallied to win their fourth straight sectional title, defeating Oak Hill 8-4.

Oak Hill came prepared and gave the Norse a scare, scoring one run in the first and one in the second to lead 2-0 heading to the third. The Norse had a chance to score in the second, with Andy Maggart being thrown out at home on a questionable call.

Keaffaber strikes out 18 in Norse opener

Behind a dominant pitching performance from Ryan Keaffaber, the Northfield baseball team won their first game of the sectional by beating North Miami 6-0.

Manchester U headed for College World Series

Manchester University coach Rick Espeset could see something in his team when they got on the bus for the 2013 NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championships.

"There was just never any doubt in our guys eyes from the beginning of the week on," he said after the 2013 Spartans became the second team in program history to advance to the NCAA Division III College World Series.

Wabash golf team wins 14th match this season

The Wabash boys' golf team raised its season record to 14-5 with a 168-190 defeat of visiting North Miami on Thursday at Honeywell Golf Course.

Wabash eliminates Manchester from baseball sectional

The Wabash Apaches got off to a good start with a four run first, thanks in part to Tyler Brewers two out bases loaded double, scoring four runs in the first inning in route to a 13-1 five inning win over Manchester on opening night of the Wabash sectional.

Nealis signs with Ancilla

Breyton Nealis, a senior at Wabash High School has signed his national letter of intent to play basketball for Ancilla College next year.

During the 2012-13 season, Nealis was the second leading scorer in the TRC, averaging 20.0ppg during conference play and 18.5ppg for the season. As a guard Nealis was seventh in the conference in steals at 2.1 per game, second in assist at 4.8 per game and also third in rebounding at 6.9. Breyton was a first team all conference selection.
