Slacian named GM of Hometown Media & WK Media

Hometown Media and WK Media President Don Hurd announced the promotions of Joseph Slacian as General Manager and Michelle Boswell as Assistant General Manager.

Hometown Media and WK Media consist of The Paper of Wabash County, The Paper of Miami County, the North Manchester News-Journal, the News Herald in Grant County, and The Huntington County Tab.

“Joe has several decades of newspaper editorial experience with other Indiana newspapers,” Hurd said. “Joe is a champion of solid local journalism…and has unselfishly mentored hundreds of budding journalists early in their careers.”
Slacian, who is in his 48th year in the newspaper business, started his journalism career at the age of 16 as a junior in high school.

Downtown Trick-or-Treat Extravaganza is Saturday evening

The Downtown Wabash district will be lined with families from the northeast Ind. region for a ton of candy dumped on Miami St. Downtown Wabash, Inc. presents the 6th annual Trick-or-Treat Extravaganza on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 5-7 p.m. Trick-or-Treat Extravaganza is free and open to the public.

Farmers Market tops $150,000 in sales over summer

Following a rebrand and a full season managed by a new market coordinator, the Downtown Wabash Farmers Market’s 15th season has come to a close. The 2022 market season for Downtown Wabash ran every Saturday from 8 a.m. - noon starting on May 14 - Sept. 24.

Downtown Wabash, Inc., a nonprofit, Indiana and Nationally Accredited Main Street organization runs the Downtown Wabash Farmers Market from its office in Downtown Wabash. Downtown Wabash, Inc. took ownership of the Market in 2007 and since its inception, the Downtown Wabash Farmers Market has grown and in 2022, the Market hit record sales for local and regional vendors alike.
