A fairly recent resident of Wabash County has something that most music lovers can only dream of – two gold records.

Cade Wolter, who is originally from the San Francisco area, manages song writers and producers.

“I’ve done that for 12 years, but full-time for eight,” he told The Paper of Wabash County during a recent interview.

Bechtold family named 2022 Farm Family of the Year

Grow Wabash County and the Salute to Ag committee is thrilled to announce that the Bechtold family will hold the title of the 2022 Farm Family of the Year.

The Bechtold family will be recognized for their incredible impact on the Wabash County agriculture industry during Grow Wabash County’s annual Salute to Ag Dinner on Wednesday, March 8, 2023.

Races shaping up for 2023 Municipal Elections

Races are shaping up in the 2023 Municipal Elections. One of the races will be decided in the May 2 Primary Election, while two others will be decided in the Nov. 7 General Election.
 
Meanwhile, Republican Melanie Penn is seeking the Wabash Clerk-Treasurer position now held by Democrat incumbent Wendy Frazier, who previously filed for the position. Unless someone else files for that position to force a vote in the primary, that race will be determined in November.

Filing continues for May Primary

Candidates are continuing to file with the Wabash County Clerk’s office for the May 2 Municipal Primary Election.

Filing began on Wednesday, Jan. 4, and continues through noon Friday, Feb. 4.

As of 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, no races have appeared on the May ballot.

VFW announces contest winners

Officers of the Wabash VFW Post 286 and Auxiliary announce the 2022 Post Patriot Pen and Voice of Democracy Scholarship Award winners have been chosen by the judges.

County, NM receive Community Crossing funds

Wabash County and North Manchester each have received funding through the Community Crossings grant program.

Wabash County will receive $455.894.71, while North Manchester will receive $44,909.36.

The awards were part of $119 million in grants presented to 229 communities around the State of Indiana. The money, the state’s portion of matching fund grants, must be used for local road projects through the governor’s Next Level Roads program.

NM library has legal kiosk

Officials from the Indiana Bar Foundation (Foundation), Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority (IHCDA), and Indiana Supreme Court have unveiled the first of 120 IndianaLegalHelp.org kiosks scheduled to be placed around the state starting this month. The North Manchester Public Library is honored to be one of these host locations. 

“This partnership furthers our mission of preventing eviction and promoting housing stability across our state,” said Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch. “We are proud of this collaborative effort to provide pro bono legal services to Hoosiers navigating the courts.”

85 Hope had busy October

October was a busy month this year for women’s health at 85 HOPE Free Medical Clinic. The clinic hosted their 4th annual Mammo Month and offered every Wabash County woman ages 40-64 the opportunity to receive an order for a free 3-D mammogram at Parkview Wabash Hospital. This year, 85 HOPE gave out 119 mammogram orders.
