Woman's Clubhouse schedule announced

On Sept. 14 the Woman's Clubhouse will launch its 2021-22 luncheons and programs series.

It takes place at noon on the second Tuesday of each month. 

Ken Myers of North Manchester as a new board member.  Jody LaSalle and Lynn Wells have accepted new committee responsibilities for Activity Director and Membership.  Everyone is welcome to attend the luncheons by making reservations with Mary Delauter 260-563-6613 or Jody Stouffer on her cell at 619-990-7088.

Wabash's fall clean-up scheduled

The City of Wabash will have the annual Fall clean-up from Sept. 13-17.

City officials ask that items not be placed on the curb prior to Friday, Sept. 10.

For the clean-up:

Pick-up route will be divided into four sections, following the same route as weekly trash

Items will only be picked up from tree lawns and along city streets

Items to be picked up should be in place by 7 a.m. on the day of pick-up or the items may not be picked up

Chamberlain family receives Hoosier Homestead Award

A Wabash County family was among the 73 Indiana families to receive a Hoosier Homestead Award at the Indiana State Fair.

On Aug. 18, Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch and Indiana State Department of Agriculture Director Bruce Kettler recognized the families’ longstanding commitment to Indiana agriculture.

To be named a Hoosier Homestead, farms must be owned by the same family for more than 100 consecutive years, and consist of 20 acres or more, or produce more than $1,000 in agricultural products per year.

Scholarship available for Leadership Development Wabash County

Grow Wabash County and the Leadership Development Wabash County (LDWC) committee are accepting applications for the Jim Smith Scholarship.

The scholarship, named for the recently retired facilitator of the LDWC program, Jim Smith, will be awarded to one applicant attending the 2021-2022 LDWC cohort to pay for their full program tuition.

Wabash Rotary plans annual United Fund golf outing

Wabash Rotary Club continues its long tradition of kicking off the Wabash County United Fund campaign with the 30th annual benefit golf outing on Sept. 8. 
The Golf Outing will begin with lunch at noon hosted by Miller’s Merry Manor with a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m. at the Honeywell Golf Course. 

“We are always especially excited to kick off the campaign with Wabash Rotary.  It is such a wonderful opportunity for the business community to support community programming.” United Fund Executive Director Steve Johnson said.  “And, they get to enjoy a great afternoon of golf.”

Grow Wabash County to host workshop series

Grow Wabash County is teaming up with Melissa Meredith, owner of Content Creative marketing firm, to present “Thinking Big in Your Smaller Business,” a series of workshops to help Wabash County businesses of all size and industry boost their message through effective marketing.

This workshop will have four sessions between September 2021 and January 2022. The first three will be hosted virtually over Zoom to break down some of the key concepts of marketing: branding, digital marketing and content creation.

The fourth session will be an in-person workshop with Meredith to actually create a marketing plan for each business.
“Grow Wabash County is always excited to bring new and relevant educational opportunities to our Grow Wabash County investors and the Wabash County business community at large,” Keith Gillenwater, president and CEO of Grow Wabash County, said. “We are especially excited to be working with a professional that grew up in Wabash County and is enthusiastic about providing her insight on marketing for businesses of all sizes.”

Wabash Marketplace Inc. to celebrate 40th anniversary

Wabash Marketplace, Inc. is celebrating 40 years of growth and revitalization in Downtown Wabash in 2021 with a tent party on September’s First Friday.

The community can gather together in Veteran’s Plaza/Tremont Parking Lot (public parking lot between Bluebird Boutique and Market Street Square on Market St.) for live music from 35 Trax, local food trucks, a mobile bar courtesy of Market Street Grill and many more activities on Miami Street, Canal Street and in downtown businesses.

The event is free and open to the public.
