The Wabash City Schools Board of Education continued its presentation of the 11th annual Kathy Swan Awards at its meeting Monday, May 1, with honoring four Wabash Middle School youth.

Students Hayley Houlihan, Jordan Jones, Dakota Hensley and Jayse Weaver received the awards for their hard work and success in the classroom and as individuals.

The Wabash Elks Lodge No.471 honored two Wabash City Schools students on Wednesday night, May 3, during Elks National Youth Week.

The students, Lindy Miller and Jaylen Tooley, were nominated for the honor by officials at the Access Learning Academy and the Access Youth Center, respectively.

Nearly 50 Wabash County and area residents convened at Paradise Spring Historical Park Saturday morning, May 6, for the annual March of Dimes March for Babies.

Dawn Hamm, member of Wabash Committee for the national organization, thanked those in attendance and reminded everyone why it was important to walk in the event.

Nearly 300 Hoosiers were in attendance for the annual Indiana Landmarks Preservation Conference that took place in Wabash Tuesday, April 25, through Friday, April 28. Nearly 300 Hoosiers converged in Wabash Tuesday, April 25, for the annual Indiana Landmarks Statewide Preservation Conference.

While the four-day-long event acted as an educational series on preserving historical sites around the state, it also spotlighted Wabash for its accomplishments in the practice, according to Marsh Davis, Indiana Landmarks President.

While he said he could not speak on behalf of the conference’s planning committee, Davis told The Paper of Wabash County there are many reasons why, in his opinion, it was a great idea to use Wabash as the event’s backdrop this year.
